Cosmin Batrin is a senior vice president (SVP) and the chief technology officer (CTO) for Waev Inc., an electric mobility provider founded in 2021 to manufacture, distribute, market and support the GEM and Taylor-Dunn brands. As a cofounder of Waev, Cosmin was integral in the purchase of GEM and Taylor-Dunn from Polaris. As SVP and CTO, Cosmin oversees product design, innovation, manufacturing, supply chain management and general operations at the Waev electric vehicle manufacturing center of excellence in Anaheim, Calif. 

Cosmin’s established career spans more than two decades in global manufacturing operations and product engineering in the automotive and consumer goods industries. Most recently, Cosmin worked at Polaris as the director of operations and product development and innovation for GEM and Taylor-Dunn. Prior to that, Cosmin led the design and start-up of new manufacturing facilities and new product introduction into manufacturing for Polaris. Cosmin also held global management roles in advanced manufacturing engineering for Johnson Controls. 

Cosmin has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in mechatronics, robotics and automation engineering from the University of Arad, Romania. He lives in California with his wife.
